We're having a great time with our new "Groovemasters" project. Although Amy is usually the shy musician and likes to stay in the background, she certainly is the "Groovemistress" when it comes to creating and laying down grooves for me to solo over. We've decided to record everything from "nasty" funk grooves to sweet tone poems. The challenge for us is to keep the music interesting and cohesive while allowing room for plenty of improvisation and spontaneous musical dialogue. We really love the feeling of freedom that comes across on the recording and are reluctant to change anything once it's on tape. So we do multiple takes until one of them grabs us and makes us dance or cry. Those are the ones we keep and the ones you'll ultimately hear. Pure unadulterated musical sex.
