BRIAN GORE
"LEGACY"

"Brian Gore's CD "Legacy" is one of the best steel-string acoustic guitar recordings that I have ever heard. Beautifully recorded, great playing and interesting music. This is a great recording."       -Tony Morris, producer/host,  Classical Guitar Alive! radio program.

If you have not heard of me, I hope that you will take a chance and purchase a copy of my second CD, called LEGACY. Musically, it reflects a reverence for a relatively young tradition in acoustic guitar, one established by my American predecesors; John Fahey, Alex de Grassi, and Michael Hedges.  Like these guitarists, the compositions reflect an ear for the European tradition in fingerstyle guitar, so beautifully represented by such great artists as John Renbourn, Pierre Bensusan and Peter Finger.  I call the CD LEGACY, because I honor the fingerstyle roots of the style I play in, while extending the tradition on a musical and technical level.  If you listen closely, you'll also hear a conversation between classical and fingerstyle technique in the solo compositions that makes the release entirely unique.  Accordingly, the classical guitarists Andrew York, Antonio Calogero, and Marco Pereira accompany me in original collaborations. Additionally, I owe a debt of honor to Peppino D'Agostino, who accompanies me on the title track.

When I founded the International Guitar Night in 1995, I never imagined I would have the great honor of sharing the stage with the best guitarists from all walks of life in acoustic guitar.  The position I find myself in is both tremendously humbling and inspiring.  There is probably not another point in history that has been filled with the quality of guitarists we have presently; and every day, every fiber of my body is dedicated to making sure the world knows a little more about them.  I have used the experiences gained as inspiration for this work.  The talent I share the stage with compelled me to produce a recording of the highest quality-- live in studio. My parts contain no overdubs, and were recorded and produced by Antonio Calogero, after much preparation.  I am probably one of the few people in the history of acoustic guitar to successfully blend the role of impresario with the development of my own original voice as an acoustic guitarist.  For me, there is nothing more motivating than sharing the stage with the best of the best.  I take the musical responsibility that comes with this role very seriously.  LEGACY reflects a dream come true for me.  As a composer and performer, I believe I have an insightful place in the legacy of acoustic guitar-- and hope that after you have had a chance to listen to the release, you'll feel the same way too.
